'Dangerous Creatures' by Margaret Stohl&Kami Garcia

Well,it's been a while since the last time I actually wrote something about a book,so I thought this could a good comeback, considering it's also the way the Caster universe gets back in my life.

So,for those who do not know, this is the first book in a spin-off series from 'The Caster Chronicles' series by the same two authors. This one follows two of the fan-favourite characters,Ridley and Link, the Siren and the hybrid Incubus(who likes to be referred to as a 'Linkubus',which we all know has a certain ring to it).
First of all,let me talk about the setting this first book as.
New York City.
What could be better than New York City?
Ummm, how about Caster New York City?
This was a very good place to start the series.
Then,a thing I loved a lot and that is a good plus, considering that a lot of people gave up on the previous series because of Lena being a not-so-incredible character in 'Beautiful Darkness'.Let's just talk a little about the characters we kept.
To begin with,we still see Lena&co at the beginning of this book, and saying 'goodbye' to them for a while is a good place to start from. The fact that Lucille is still part of the plot is just a plot, because not many cats are as sassy as this one.Of course,I would personally love to know more about Live and John, but they are probably just watching Doctor Who and Sherlock while also dealing with Mortal stuff(aka Liv and uni and John being there for her, most likely),but I could not possibly imagine a better main character than Ridley Duchannes.I was always sort of keen on her relationship with Link, but mainly just because it was something Ridley did for Ridley and it was the least Dark part of her,but I now found something I enjoy a little more, which brings us to the next thing I love about the new book...
The new characters.
There is just one thing to say right now.
LENNOX freaking GATES.This is one of the things I liked more about this book.I did sort of figure out who he was right after Ridley's flashback, and I still expected him to be quite a douchebag, but he turned out to be quite dreamy and sassy and simply incredible.I,as previously mentioned, used to be all for Ridley and Link, but once Ridley and Nox got to talk and start to know each other and developt a connection,I realised that they just clicked. They got each other, and there wasn't really much need for explanations between the two of them, and that is just one of the things that makes a good ol' OTP.And I may be going down with this ship.I can only hope we see some moer of him,and I am quite confident we will.
Floyd got on my nerves for quite some time, but she did give me the Taylor Momsen kind of vibe, and considering how much I love Taylor Momsen, and how I appreciate Floyd's Caster talents and fashion sense,I decided to give her a second chance. But she should get a poster of The Pretty Reckless and one of Fall Out Boy for that single reason.
Necro was a really nice character to see.I don't really know who she could resemble, but maybe the personality there made me think just a little bit of Hayley Williams from Paramore, which was cool. And there are few things that make me get a good first impression other than blue hair.
Sampson did somehow, for some unknown reason, remind me of Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy.Which is the equivalent of Link's Magneto compliment for me,since I am the biggest sucker for some Fall Out Boy.Good job there,Kami and Margie.

In terms of plot,it was nice to see how Link and Rid's relationship evoluated and also how the two characters developed on their own.I loved seeing Rid try (and fail heroically) to deal with trying to be Mortal.I loved to see Link following his dream of being a famous rocker, even if he maybe lacked talent. However, what I did love most was the way Rid and Nox's relationship started creating, and also the way Ridley started developing so much as a character in only one book.
Of course, the two wonderful ladies who wrote this book had to leave us with not one cliffhanger, but two of them, one concerning the Linkubus and the Siren, and one concerning whatever Nox could possibly be labelled as.
I cannot wait to pick up the next book in this series.Great job.

Hope someone else picks this up as well so we can discuss it. c: I do suggest it.

Love always,
Me.

Gods, monsters and ugly sea fish - Frances Hardinge's DEEPLIGHT

Rating:  ★★★.75 / 5 Plot: For centuries the gods of the Undersea ruled the islands of the Myriad through awe and terror: they were very real, and very dangerous. Sacrifices were hurled into the waters to appease them, and every boat was painted with pleading eyes to entreat their mercy. They were served, feared and adored. Then, thirty years ago, the gods rose up in madness and tore each other apart. Now, none remain. The islands have recovered and the people have patched their battered ships and moved on. On one of these islands live Hark and his best friend Jelt. To them, the gods are nothing but a collection of valuable scraps to be scavenged from the ocean and sold. But now something is pulsing beneath the waves, calling to someone brave enough to retrieve it. Review: The more I think about this book, the more in awe I am even though it's been a while since I've finished it. I had heard people singing Hardinge's praise for age...

The sequel of my dreams? // MONSTROUS DESIGN blog tour
