Spare And Found Parts || Book Review

Goodreads:   https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23566912-spare-and-found-parts?ac=1&from_search=true Rating:  5/5 Plot:  Set in a futuristic,post-apocalyptic and slightly steam-punky version of Dublin, Spare and found parts  is a modern Franenstein retelling with a twist. The story follows our young heroine, Nell, part girl and part machine, as she tries to change the world once more by changing her life to begin with and creating something never seen before. Equally depicts the search for companionship and the search for breakthrough. Thoughts: I quite honestly am at a loss of words when it comes to expressing my love for this book in a way that would do it justice ever so slightly. First off, I must admit that I found it unbelievable that this is Sarah's 1st published novel.Though I know she's done a fair share of nonfiction in the past,I do believe this is her first actual novel, which my brain simply cannot compute. This does not rea...

'History is all you left me' by Adam Silvera || Book review

Goodreads page:   https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25014114-history-is-all-you-left-me?ac=1&from_search=true My rating:   5/5 Plot:   Griffin's first love, best friend and all around favourite person,Theo has died and Griff has to come to terms with this tragedy. To everyone's surprise, including Griffin's,a real comfort throughout this process comes from Theo's university boyfriend,Jackson. This whole process of overcoming the grief caused by Theo's death is made even harder by his struggle with his own issues, his compulsions taking over his life little by little.A story of grief, growing up and living with a mental illness, History is all you left me is meant to blow you away. My thoughts: I still can't possibly manage to tie together words to properly express my love for this book,so I might as well give it a shot since it'll never be a perfect representation of my feelings anyway. Just to get it out of the way,THIS B...

Artists through the lens: the writer

For the longest time I have been surrounded by creators of arts in all different shapes and forms,so I thought it would only be appropriate to share with the world the people who inspire me on a daily basis. I can't not start with a writer and we all know it,it's simply impossible. Petru Emanuel "Pepe" Ciuta has wanted to be a writer for as long as I have known him for -which,you know,if you take in consideration the fact that I have pretty much known him for as long as he has been on this planet,is an awful lot of time. With two kick-ass already in mind,"either A.J. Christie or Peter Atkinson ",as he tells anyone that listens,he is ready to take on the world of crime novels.Of course, there is the problem of living in a small country where this is a yet to be developed market and, well, the fact that he tends to be quite unhappy with his works and eternally ecstatic over the idea of new ones. With a passion for Agatha Christie and Sephen Kin...

"Salem's Lot" by Stephen King || Book Review

Goodreads page:     https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11590.Salem_s_Lot My rating:   3/5 Plot: The book follows one of your tiny all american villages in circumstances that are quite unusual. With a large number of characters to follow, the book shows the way all these people's lives are affected by the unexpected forces that come to their little town and are meant to change Jerusalem's Lot forever. Thoughts on the book: Just to get it out of the way from the very beginning,I'm still not the biggest fan of Stephen King's writing style, nor am I blown away by it.Sure,I can appreciate it and some aspects of it do intrigue and impress me,but it's still not doing it for me.That being said, let's get on to the book. Although the book as a whole was quite enjoyable and managed to pull me in pretty early on,I did have quite a few issues with it.The main issues must've been regarding the characters.Being one to always look for greatly written c...

"I'll give you the sun" by Jandy Nelson || book review

Goodreads page:    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23573418-i-ll-give-you-the-sun My rating:   5/5 Plot: The story follows the lives of a set of twins,Noah and Jude.It keeps switching between timelines as the chapters and narratives change,Noah's chapters take place in the past, when the two of them were 13-14 years old, whereas Jude's are when the two of them are 16.The two of them used to be close ( epic understatement )but they drift apart and the book is basically the story of that and of them coming back together. (It's pretty hard to give more details about the story, since talking about part of it will spoil the other part and I feel like I am the best at ruining that,so I'll say nothing more). Thoughts on the book: Just to get it out of the way,I LOVED THIS. The writing style is just amazing.I feel like I say this most of the time with a lot of books without actually giving reasons, but, truth be told,I don't even real...
